Recently, our People Plus team members participated in the United Way Day of Caring  at Mahr Park. Sixty volunteers participated in a clean up day at the park. Mahr Park will be located on a 265 acre tract of land adjacent to the eastern shore of Lake Peewee, which is part of the estate bequeathed to the city after Glema Mahr’s death in 2009. The property is roughly the same acreage of Madisonville City Park and is valued at approximately $1.4 million.  The property had formerly been Dr. and Glema Mahr’s home and cattle farm.

In the picture above, members of the People Plus team helped remove fencing that held cattle in the farm. The day was sponsored by The United Way of the Coalfield, which is a local, non-profit, volunteer driven organization working to support health and human services in Hopkins and Muhlenberg Counties of Kentucky.
